“Gummy and The Ferret” by Barbara J. Morgan is a story about a dog named Gummy that has to move to a shelter for a short time because her owners could not take care of her anymore. Gummy is a cute Pit-bull that walks very funny and looks like a gummy bear.

Gummy is a happy dog, but she is sad that her family left her at the shelter. Her new place at the shelter is nice. There are many other animals there needing to be taken care of too, just like her.

Days go by and little by little, Gummy gets used to the shelter and meets a lot of new friends. One day when she is sitting in her cage, she sees the cage in front of her and does not know what is inside. It is a ferret, his name is Finian, and soon they start talking and playing together. One morning Finian wakes up and sees that Gummy is not in her cage. He gets all worried thinking she was adopted.

I really love the story of “Gummy and The Ferret” by Barbara J. Morgan. It will teach kids how shelters are really special places for this animals that have been abandoned, or that their owners can’t take care of, and will make you think to be a helper or adopt a pet. Very cute story.
