“The Vagabond Penguin” by Tony Esposito is a very good book.  It is about a penguin that lived on a big island and swam to another island because he wanted to see what was on the other side.  On the other side, he met a polar bear and danced with him and rode on his back.  When he and the polar bear slept, he dreamed of his home.  Then the polar bear had to leave and the penguin met an Eskimo named Jo.  He went on the dogsled with Jo back to Jo’s village.  When he was at the village he dreamed of going home.

At Jo’s village he met a mean seal named Old Habnasher McGrote.  The Eskimos were forced to build him a boat.  The penguin helped build the boat.  They brought the boat to Old Habnasher McGrote, but he didn’t like the outside of the boat and got mad.  But the penguin convinced him to get on to the boat and Old Habnasher discovered that he really did like the boat.  Then he gave all the Eskimos some money, and he and the penguin hugged each other.  Habnasher eventually gave the penguin the boat so he could go home and see his family.

“The Vagabond Penguin” is a very cute book.  I really like the pictures.  Sometimes the penguin is really cute; sometimes Habnasher McGrote looks really mean. Most of the book rhymes and is like a poem.  I think all my friends would like this book.
