Cayden:

“In this book all of the kids go to the pumpkin patch and pick out orange pumpkins for Halloween. There was one pumpkin though that didn’t turn orange so nobody picked him because they were all looking for orange ones. That one stayed green. The farmer picked it in and brought it home to his kid. The boy’s name is James. James tells lots of people about his green Christmas pumpkin but everyone asks what he is going to do with it. They have never heard of a Christmas pumpkin. My favorite part was when he figures out what to do with the pumpkin and it looks really cool. I liked when there was a big line of cars driving by to look at it. That was my favorite picture in the book. I liked when Santa wrote him a letter too. We go to the pumpkin patch for school. Maybe next year we can get a pumpkin for Christmas if there are any green ones. I think I would decorate mine like the boy did his because I really liked it.”

Max:

“My favorite part was when all of the kids were at the pumpkin patch picking out pumpkins. There were a lot of pumpkins. I want to pick a green one and an orange one when we go next year. That would be fun. I liked the green pumpkin the boy had. I liked the picture where he was holding it with the candle in it and it had a star. And I liked when there was the picture with tree lights on the pumpkin.”

Parent’s comments:

“The Christmas Pumpkin” is a wonderfully creative story that both of my sons truly enjoyed. I am not sure if the Christmas pumpkin will catch on, but I do know that there will be at least two green pumpkins that are not left out in the field this fall/winter!
