Teenage years are some of the most difficult years to navigate. However, these are also some of the most important years of developments. However, sometimes mistakes are made that can impede these developments. In Megan Clinton’s book, she discusses the top ten mistakes that young women make that can often lead to unintended consequences. In each chapter, she discusses these ten mistakes, giving real examples of when they are made, why young women often make them and how to avoid making them. She also includes references of the Bible and a prayer to God, praying and asking God to help her avoid making the mistake.

I greatly enjoyed reading “Smart Girls, Smart Choices.” There are so many self-help books that are aimed at teenage girls and young women that are often written by very highly educated people and are often very dry and boring to read. However, this book is the complete opposite of that. Megan uses real life examples, including relevant ones from popular culture. She does a very good job of dissecting the mistake, but she explains why the mistake is detrimental in a very interesting manner that is not condemning. She also gives examples and ways of how young women can avoid making these mistakes and the ways that she gives are reasonable and can be used in real life in many scenarios. The ten mistakes that she discusses are the topics that many plague many young women and these topics are often the most difficult handle because they are so complex. I would recommend this novel to any girl, whether she is Christian or not because the advice is very helpful. I would especially recommend it to any parents or grandparents who know of a young women or any girl herself because this book is very helpful in discussing the top ten mistakes of young women. “Smart Girls, Smart Choices” is one self-help book that is actually helpful!
